Our History
Moved by the tremendous poverty and suffering that can be directly traced to lack of education, Bishop Dr. Darlingston G. Johnson, along with Harvest Intercontinental Ministries -Unlimited (HIM-U), made the strategic decision in 2018, to make quality education accessible to as many students as possible living in the most impoverished nations of the world.
The Women of HIM-U under the leadership of the late Rev. Lorince Arnette Taylor, took on the mandate. There are now over 400 churches, 35 K-12 schools and one orphanage, located on six continents, predominantly in Sub-Saharan Africa.
In 2020, Bishop appointed Dr. Kona-Facia Freeman- Nepay, to head the “Bishop Darlingston Johnson Education Mandate (BDJEM) Task Force.” This led to his commitment and to the critical decision to establish Harvest Intercontinental American University (HIAU).
